a unique man, the Messiah.

The Genealogy of The Messiah
ADAM
In the Torah, at the time of Adam and Eve,
God said to the serpent (the devil):
I will put enmity between you and
(1)the woman, and between your seed and her seed;
(2)it shall bruise your head,
(3)and you shall bruise his heel.
     (Genesis 3:15)

In the Torah, God said to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob:

DAVID
In the Zabur, God said to David:
Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.
(6)His seed shall endure forever,
(7)and his throne as the sun before me. It shall be established forever as the moon.
     (Psalm 89:35-37)

JESUS

According to the Injil (New Testament), the 7 underlined portions on the above have their fulfillment in one man:
  1. Jesus was born of the seed of a woman, not of the seed of a man. The Apostle Matthew wrote:
Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.   (Matthew 1:18)

  2. Jesus, by his death, rendered the devil powerless, thereby bruising his head. The Injil says:
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, Jesus also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil;   (Hebrews 2:14)

  3. Jesus was bruised by the devil who incited Judas to betray him to his death. The Apostle John wrote:
And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;   (John 13:2)

  4. Jesus was born of the seed of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob. The Apostle Matthew wrote:
The book of the generation of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob;   (Matthew 1:1,2)

  5. Jesus is a blessing to men redeemed by his blood to God out of every nation. The Apostle John wrote:
You (Jesus) are worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for you were slain, and have redeemed us to God ny your blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;   (Revelation 5:9)

  6. Jesus was born of the seed of David: The Apostle Paul wrote:
Remember that Jesus the Messiah of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:   (II Timothy 2:8)

  7. Jesus was born a king, and he will reign eternally. A companion of the apostles of Jesus called Luke wrote that the Angel Gabriel said to Mary:
You shall bring forth a son, and shall call his name Jesus. And the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: and of his kingdom there shall be no end.   (Luke 1:31-33)

The BIRTH of the Messiah foretold by the prophets . . . . .

. . . . . Came to pass at the time of Jesus:

The Messiah will be born at Bethlehem:
     The prophet Micah wrote:
But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from eternity.
(Micah 5:2)
and, about 700 years later, according to the Injil:
     The Apostle Matthew wrote:
Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea...for thus it is written by the prophet, And you Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are not the least among the princes of Judah; for out of you shall come a Governor that shall rule my people, Israel.
(Matthew 2:1,5,6)

The Messiah will come from eternity:
     The prophet Micah wrote:
Yet out of you shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from eternity.
(Micah 5:2)
and, about 700 years later, according to the Injil:
The Apostle John wrote that Jesus prayed these words:
O Father, glorify me with your own self with the glory which I had with you before the world was.
(John 17:5)

The Messiah will be born of a virgin:
     The prophet Isaiah wrote:
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
(Isaiah 7:14)
and, about 700 years later, according to the Injil:
     The Apostle Matthew wrote:
The angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto you Mary your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel, which, being interpreted, is God with us.
(Matthew 1:20-23)

The Messiah will be called Immanuel, meaning God with us:
     The prophet Isaiah wrote:
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
(Isaiah 7:14)
and, about 700 years later, according to the Injil:
Jesus is called the Word, and the Apostle John wrote:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelled among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
(John 1:1,14)

The SUFFERINGS of the Messiah foretold by the prophets . . .

. . . Were fulfilled at the time of Jesus:

The Messiah will be hated without cause:
     The prophet David wrote:
They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head.
(Psalm 69:4)

and, about 1000 years later, according to the Injil:
     Jesus said:
He that hates me hates my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. But this comes to pass that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
(John 15:23-25)

The Messiah will be betrayed by a friend:
     The prophet David wrote:
Yes, my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
(Psalm 41:9)
and, about 1000 years later, according to the Injil:
     Jesus said:
I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eats bread with me has lifted his heel against me. Now I tell you before it come, that when it is come to pass, you may believe that I am he. Truly, truly, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. He then lying on Jesus' breast said to him, Lord who is it? Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot.
(John 13:18,19,21,25,26)

The Messiah will be spit upon:
     The prophet Isaiah wrote:
I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
(Isaiah 50:6)
and, about 700 years later, according to the Injil:
     Luke gave testimony:
Then Jesus took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spit upon.
(Luke 18:31,32)

The Messiah will be numbered with transgressors:
     The prophet Isaiah wrote:
He has poured out his soul unto death: and he was nubered with the transgressors;
(Isaiah 53:12)
and, about 700 years later, according to the Injil:
     Mark recorded:
And with Jesus they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. And the scripture was fulfilled, which says, And he was numbered with the transgessors.
(Mark 15:27,28)

The DEATH Of The Messiah Foretold By The Prophets . . . . .

. . . . . Came To Pass At The Time Of Jesus:

The Messiah will die for the sins of men:
     The prophet Isaiah wrote:
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities;
The Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
He was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
When you shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days,
By his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
He bore the sin of many.
(Isaiah 53:5,6,8,10,11,12)

and, about 700 years later, according to the Injil:
     Jesus said:
The Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
(Matthew 20:28)
The Apostle Paul wrote;
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.
(I Corinthians 15:3)

The Messiah will have none of his bones broken:
     The prophet David wrote:
He keeps all his bones: not one of them is broken.
(Psalm 34:20)
and, about 1000 years later, according to the Injil:
     The Apostle John wrote::
Then came the soldiers, and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
(John 19:32,33,36)

The Messiah will be pierced in his body:
     The prophet Zechariah wrote:
They shall look upon me whom they have pierced.
(Zechariah 12:10)
and, about 500 years later, according to the Injil:
     The Apostle John wrote:
But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. And again another scripture says, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
(John 19:34,37)

The Messiah will be buried with the rich:
     The prophet Isaiah wrote:
And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death.
(Isaiah 53:9)
and, about 700 years later, according to the Injil:
     The Apostle Matthew wrote:
Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out of the rock.
(Mathew 27:57-60)

The RESURRECTION Of The Messiah Foretold By The Prophets . .

. . Came To Pass At The Time Of Jesus:

The Messiah will be raised from the dead:
     The prophet David wrote:
For you will not leave my soul in hell; nor will you allow your Holy One to see corruption.
(Psalm 16:10)

and, about 1000 years later, according to the Injil:
     Jesus prophesied before his death:
Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spit upon; And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
(Luke 18:31-33)
After the resurrection of Jesus, Peter said:
For David spoke concerning him, Because you will not leave my soul in hell, nor will you allow your Holy One to see corruption. Brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Messiah to sit on his throne; He seeing this before spoke of the resurrection of Messiah, that his soul was not left in hell nor his flesh did see corruption. This Jesus has God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
(Acts 2:25-27,32)
The EXALTATION Of The Messiah Foretold By The Prophets . . .

. . . Came To Pass At The Time Of Jesus:

The Messiah will be seated at the right hand of God:
     The prophet David wrote:
The LORD said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand till I make your enemies your footstool.
(Psalm 110:1)
and, about 1000 years later, according to the Injil:
After Jesus went up to heaven, the Apostle Peter said:
This Jesus has God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has shed forth this which you now see and hear. For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand till I make your enemies your footstool.
(Acts 2:32-35)
Also, the Apostle John wrote that Jesus spoke these words to him in a vision:
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with me on my throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my Father on His throne.
(Revelation 3:21)

The REIGN Of The Messiah Foretold By The Prophets . . . . .

. . . . .Will Come To Pass At The Return Of Jesus:

The Messiah will return to earth:
     The prophet Zechariah wrote:
Behold, the day of the Lord is coming, and your spoil will be divided in your midst. Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. And in that day his feet will stand on the mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley;
(Zechariah 14:1,3,4)

and, about 500 years later, according to the Injil:
Luke records that forty days after the resurrection of Jesus:
He was taken up and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, You men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven. Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount of Olives.
(Acts 1:9-12)

The Messiah will be a glorious king over all nations:
     The prophet David wrote:
I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven,...And there was given him dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him:
(Daniel 7:13,14)
and, about 550 years later, according to the Injil:
     Jesus said:
When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: and before him shall be gathered all nations:
(Matthew 25:31,32)

The Messiah will reign forever:
     The prophet Daniel wrote:
His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
(Daniel 7:14)
and, about 550 years later, according to the Injil:
Luke records that the angel Gabriel said to Mary:
Jesus shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
(Luke 1:32,33)

The Messiah will reign as God:
     The psalmist wrote:
I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of your kingdom is a right sceptre.
(Psalm 45:1,6)
     The prophet Isaiah wrote:
...the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called...The Mighty God,
(Isaiah 9:6)
     The prophet Jeremiah wrote:
Behold the days are coming, says the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a king shall reign...he shall be called, The Lord Our Righteousness.
(Jeremiah 23:5,6)
and, hundreds of years later, according to the Injil:
In the Epistle to the Hebrews, it is written:
But unto the Son he says, Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of your kingdom.
(Hebrews 1:18)

In the days of old, according to Moses and the prophets:

Who Makes Known The End From The Beginning?

The prophet Isaiah wrote that God said:

I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven inages.
Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.
Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
(Isaiah 42:8,9; 46:9-11)

How Can One Test A Prophet?

The prophet Moses wrote:

And if you say in your heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken? When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken, but the prophet has spoken it presumptuously: you shall not be afraid of him.
(Deuteronomy 18:,21,22)

The prophet Jeremiah wrote:

The prophet which prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the Lord has truly sent him.
(Jeremiah 28:9)

And, hundreds of years later, according to Jesus and the Injil:

Who was foretold by all the prophets?

After he rose from the dead, Jesus said to his disciples:

O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: ought not the Messiah to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himsef.

Later, at another place, Jesus said to his disciples:

These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might comprehend the scriptures, and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved the Messiah to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name among all nations.
(Luke 24:25-27,44-47)

For whom was messianic prophecy given?

In the Injil, the Apostle Peter wrote:

Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Messiah which was in them did signify, when he testified beforehand the sufferings of Messiah, and the glory that should follow. To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
(I Peter 1:10-12)
